What happened to October?

I've been meaning to update my blog and every day I say to myself, "Susi, you need to log on and say something, say anything...just get it updated." So I finally logged in tonight prepared to write something, anything--that is until I realized the last time I did write 'anything' was in October, three months ago. THREE months ago! I have a hard time recalling what I did last Monday, let alone what I did in November or December, but now...January 2008?
SGE and Mary ThorsbyMy friend Mary Thorsby, who is the CEO and creator of http://www.ilistpaducah.com, gets up early each morning to work on her website and blog (let's say 4'ish). And that's her time to write. Quite brilliant. I just wished I liked getting up that early. But I don't. Which is why my blog hasn't been updated since OCTOBER! And why you should love and appreciate Mary's website and blog, because it's typically updated DAILY! So register for a feed for my blog because you might not see updates anytime soon.... Unless of course I take Mary up on her offer for early a.m. wake up calls, but that's only if she includes a "snooze alarm" repeat call every 15 minutes. ;0
So speaking of Mary and her blog, she's in training for the More magazine marathon to be held the first weekend of April in NYC. Check out More magazine's information at http://nyrr.org/races/2008/more/index.asp. I plan to be in NYC that weekend with Mary's friends to cheer her on as she crosses the More finish line. I'm not a runner, but I may join the marathon as a walker instead. I'll keep you posted on my speed walking progress.... But for more information about how to train for a marathon, check out Mary's blog at http://www.ilistpaducah.blogspot.com.
By the way, that's a picture above of me to the left and Mary to the right wearing our Derby hats at the April 2007 "Ladies Society Social" fundraiser event held at Lourdes Marshall Nemer Pavilion in Paducah, Ky to benefit the American Cancer Society. Mary was one of many sponsors of that event which helped raise more than $20,000 to find a cure for cancer. Thanks, Mary! And speaking of the "Ladies Social," .....
SGE and Chrissy BoothI was event chair of the "Ladies Social" event for three years working as a volunteer with my friend Chrissy Booth, Area Director for the American Cancer Society in Paducah. Those fundraisers in 2005, 2006 and 2007 netted more than $40,000 for the American Cancer Society thanks to huge community support, sponsorships, silent auction donations, and attendance. Thanks, Paducah! We were also fortunate to have the 2006 and 2007 events featured in Posh, a local magazine published by The Paducah Sun newspaper in Paducah, Ky.
Here's a link to the archived .pdf June 2007 issue of Posh featuring photographs of the April 2007 fun, Derby-inspired Ladies' Social event (and also look for my article on summertime entertaining). We appreciate Posh for its continued community support in Paducah.
